Wellbeing is at the centre of our Health curriculum at Havelock North Intermediate and this is closely tied to the physical activity and challenge of the Physical Education curriculum.
Through the Health curriculum, students learn about the incredible human body, fueling it and looking after it. Puberty education is a theme for our emerging adolescents and Increasingly, the skills of mindfulness and resilience are taught and practised. Year 8 students also participate in the Life Education Drug Awareness programme.
The PE curriculum includes ball skills for a range of different sports, athletics and gymnastics instruction. Students play games, are involved in competitive sports and learn social dancing. Regular PE sessions are scheduled each week, and this is complemented by a lunchtime sports challenge and the coordination of a range of team sports.
